Drumnadrochit Woods – Loch Ness – Scotland

Drumnadrochit is a village on the western shore of Loch Ness, a long, narrow loch in the Scottish Highlands that’s supposedly home to the Loch Ness Monster. The Nessieland center celebrates the legendary beast with family-friendly exhibits and loch cruises. Ruined Urquhart Castle overlooks the Loch just east of the village center. To the west, wooded Glen Urquhart and Glen Affric offer horse-riding and hiking trails.

The village has a new Scotmid store with small breakfast bar, coffee and hot savory snacks which can be a blessing when its blawing a blizzard.

TOP TIP: The Esso garage and Scotmid have an excellent selection of fuel for your fires. I always take a small axe on holiday, this is great to chop up shop bought logs into smaller pieces even kindlers…
